The meeting is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and co-organized by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment), UNEP DTU Partnership and the Global Support Programme (GSP) for National Communications (NCs) and Biennial Update Reports (BURs), with the additional support of the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea Protection. Approximately 100 participants are expected to attend, including representatives from developing and developed Parties, international organizations and experts engaged in the enhanced transparency framework. The event will include presentations by country representatives, international organizations and renowned international experts, as well as opportunities for plenary discussions and smaller “breakouts” sessions.
Participants will be encouraged to share experiences, lessons learnt, ideas and to make an efficient use of the CBIT Global Coordination Platform as a tool for strengthening coordination and knowledge exchange among countries implementing CBIT projects.
CONCEPT AND OBJECTIVES
This third technical CBIT implementation workshop will aim at strengthening national transparency capacities by:
(i) analyzing and supporting enhanced understanding of key elements and components of national CBIT projects already approved,
(ii) identifying common approaches to existing challenges in the implementation of the enhanced transparency framework and
(iii) presenting the support available through the CBIT Global Coordination Platform.
