Shobhakar Dhakal

Description of expertise: Dr. Dhakal’s areas of expertize are in energy and climate change mitigation policies and modeling and on urbanization/cities and climate change. He is also interested in sustainable energy access planning and analysis for developing countries, regional energy integration issues, and research-policy interfacing. Dr. Dhakal was one of the Coordinating Lead Authors for the Fifth Assessment Report of Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for the Working Group on Mitigation (for the Chapter ‘Human Settlements, Infrastructure and Spatial Planning’). He also leads and is a co-editor of ongoing international Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities. He serves as a member of the scientific steering committee of the Global Carbon Project, which is premier scientific program under the Future Earth.
